A little known fact is that you can request a credit report free, if you are eligible. Credit bureaus will issue mailed requests for a credit report, free when provided with the proper information. You can be on your way to a healthier credit rating with the services provided by the bureau.

All requests for a credit report, free require the following information. Include your full name (including Jr, Sr, II), social security number, copy of your utility or some other bill, copy of your driver’s licence, current and previous addresses within the last five years, date of birth, your current employer, signature, home telephone number.

Eligible applicants include those who have been denied employment based on credit reports, or are unemployed and plan to seek employment in the next 60 days, or are welfare recipients, or victims of fraud. You can also obtain a credit report free when you apply for a credit card by providing the agency with the same information.
