Credit bureaus will issue a free credit report upon written request, providing you are eligible. If you apply for a credit card, whether approved or not, you can receive free credit reports. You must write to the same agency where your creditor obtained a copy, and request your report. All requests for free credit reports require the following information. Include your full name (including Jr, Sr, II), social security number, copy of your utility or some other bill, copy of your driver’s licence, current and previous addresses within the last five years, date of birth, your current employer, signature and hometelephone number.
